The Philippine Health Insurance or commonly known as ‘Philhealth’ to many Filipinos is a national health insurance program of the government of the Philippines.
Once registered as a member, you’ll be assigned a Personal Identification Number (PIN). You use your PIN to pay the required contributions (yes, simple as that) but be mindful not to use an incorrect PIN for other Philhealth registered member might benefit from your payment.
As one warning posted on Philhealth’s website says, “Siguraduhin tama ang iyong PIN upang hindi maitala sa ibang miyembro ang iyong hulog.”
If you happen to lose your PIN, here’s what you can do.
On the other hand, you can check your latest date of payment and the validity of your health insurance thru the Member Data Record (MDR). Obviously, no payment no PhilHealth benefits to avail!
Take note as well that in times of confinement, some hospitals may still require you to provide a copy of MDR to cover your expenses. According to Philhealth’s website, these are kind of hospitals without ‘My PhilHealth Portal’ facility.
You can get your MDR from any PhilHealth office nearest you but here’s good news, you don’t need to travel, beat the traffic or spend some of your precious time just to get a MDR.
Why leave the house if you can receive an electronic copy of it at home?
Here’s how you can request your MDR easily.
Open your email and write a message addressed to firstname.lastname@example.org
In your message, write your correct and complete:
- LAST NAME
- FIRST NAME
- MIDDLE NAME
Send your message and wait for Philhealth’s reply!
Once an electronic copy of your MDR was received, print and keep a copy of it for future use.
